Market-Based Solutions

The Americas Food & Beverage Show (Miami) and Anuga (Cologne, Germany) provided strategic platforms for African exporters to diversify markets and showcase unique food and beverage offerings to global buyers. These events aligned with Ndarama Works’ mission to position African firms competitively in international trade.

  • Americas Food & Beverage Show: Leveraged Miami’s role as a gateway to Latin America, targeting U.S. and Caribbean buyers through the Africa Fine Foods Pavilion.
  • Anuga 2025: As the world’s leading food and beverage trade fair, Anuga enabled African firms to access European markets. The CANEX Creative Africa Pavilion hosted 10 exhibitors from six region.

THE CHALLENGE

  • Short Lead Times – Limited preparation windows created pressure on exhibitor readiness and logistics.
  • Tariff Barriers & Loss of Trade Preferences – Withdrawal of AGOA benefits and rising tariffs impacted competitiveness.
  • Non-Tariff Barriers – Divergent quality standards, packaging, and food safety regulations across regions created compliance complexity.
  • Logistical Bottlenecks – Port congestion, container shortages, and unreliable transport networks increased costs and lead times.
  • Currency Volatility & Cost Pressures – Depreciating local currencies eroded margins and raised input costs.
  • Regulatory Delays – Lengthy approval processes by agencies like NAFDAC and SON disrupted supply chains.
  • Limited Exportable Surpluses – Local processors often import raw materials, reducing availability for export.
  • Fragmented Market Intelligence – Lack of reliable buyer data and trend insights led to mismatched expectations.
  • Supply Chain Risks – Global shipping disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties amplified risk.
  • Financial Constraints – Limited access to trade finance restricted scaling and large order fulfillment.
