Subcontracted to provide a Chief of Party for the Southern Africa Regional Trade & Investment Hub, a USD 73 mil program employing 47 staff and covering nine countries including Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and the United States) | Provided business and turnaround strategy and program management services using a market systems approach,as well as trade and investment promotion and facilitation | Successfully turned around the program, developed and delivered a new strategy leading to program extension – concluding USD 153 Mil investment and USD 59 Mil in export deals.
Ndarama provided the Team Leader for a USD 25,4 Mil DFID-funded East and Southern Africa Regional Climate Smart Agriculture Program for a client covering Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia & Zimbabwe | Led a multi-country team on regional market systems agribusiness climate-smart agriculture program and attained an A+ program rating for superior results and program innovation | Supported market-based climate-smart agriculture enterprises and over 250,000 smallholder farmers, 20 large agribusinesses and over 100 value chain actors | Created sustainable businesses still running profitably today – 3 years after program close.
Managed a USD 12 Mil program in Zambia and Switzerland for youth employment promotion, serving as Team Leader introducing market systems development programming, youth employment models, and value chain development into the UN | Created 3,000 jobs for rural Zambian youth, improving the performance of > 5,000 youth-led rural enterprises.
In managing this USD 20 Mil initiative, created Liberia’s first post-conflict Market Systems Development Program | Introduced the 1stinitiative in Liberia to adopt Making Markets Work for the Poor & Peace (M4PP) approach, focusing on agricultural and financial sectors | Transformed the rubber and cocoa sectors by facilitating private sector-led investment through export-led business linkages.
